W.E.L.L + Spiritual Connection = Margaret Scott

So I met this Queen at church when I joined the Hospitality Ministry at House of Hope. She instantly became a good friend and sista. She has a few things going on that may really be inspirational to many. Let's see what Sista Margaret (inside joke) has going on!

What are you up to these days? what career?

I am currently working from home during the “shelter in place” due to the COVID-19  pandemic.

What other things do you have going on? other projects ?

I am the Visionary for the The W.E.L.L. (Women Equipped to Live Life) Experience. The mission of this women’s group is to help women on their journey to being healthy Emotionally, Mentally and Spiritually.  Our affirmation is  “I must be admit that I am broken before I can be healed.” On March 26th,  we started a “Pray without Ceasing” call for weekly prayer. The prayer called allowed a “safe” place for us to meet via conference call. We have ladies that call in from all over.

I started my 2nd business, an online Beauty Supply store on June 1, 2020.

One wish you have if you could change something in the world today?

My wish is that everyone could see beyond the color of anyone’s skin and Love each other as part of the human race. No one was created better than the other. God created each one of us, fearfully and wonderfully.

Tell us about your youth and growing up?

Even though I am the oldest 4, I group as an only child with my Grandparents. It was like the best of both worlds, the oldest of my siblings and the youngest of my aunts/uncles. There were so many lessons that I learned. I was the girl that wanted to be my grandmother is so many ways…I wanted to pray like her, cook like her but I wanted to be able to build relationships like she did. After my grandfather passed my Grandmother was the matriarch that insisted on family being priority and valuing time together. She believed in family time especially family dinners at the table together as one. She believed that right was right and wrong was wrong. She was very supportive and disciplined you out of love to be an upstanding citizen. She believed in the value of communication and expressing how you felt without being critical. She was a Woman of God, who believed in the power of prayer for everything in her life. She was always encouraging in her deeds as well.

I had so much positive support from not only my family but my community..my teachers, my friends’ family, my church family, who included teachers in the educational system, members of the NAACP. They were concerned about my being an involved and prepared for my adult life.

I was very selective in my girlfriend circle. I did not want to be friends with everyone but with the girls that were positive, productive ladies and had life goals…5 year plan. I am a private person and never cared about being in the “in crowd,” I wanted to be around the leaders, those who set the tone of the environment and were not afraid to challenge me and be truthful.

Honestly, I can say that I still have friendships that started in Daycare, 45 years ago.
