Shonda Brown White + Writing = Author

This is my dear friend I met at work when I lived in Memphis over 7 years ago. Instantly we started to talk and became friends. Then I moved to Atlanta and guess who had moved here too! Yeap! you guessed it!….So  I think we are meant to be friends. Lol I am extremely proud of all her accomplishments! Please let me introduce a Talented Sista….Shonda! She is doing BIG things People!

How did you get started? I started this journey back in 2008 around the time i got engaged and met the love of my life. I realized so many lessons and experiences I had been through, and had an overwhelming desire to help empower and encourage so many women because I knew there were others like me who had gone through similar situations. I released my first book and started my first blog, but life circumstances had me down and defeated. So I gave up on everything - which was a big mistake - but committed to a re-launch in December of 2013, and haven’t looked back since.

And what else you got going on or coming up...Just released my latest eBook last year in November - Find the Good in Goodbye. I have some speaking engagements coming up this year, and considering starting a marriage non-fiction book or fiction book.

Where are you from….by way of? I’m from Lexington, KY by way of ATL
If you could sing one song on American Idol, what would it be?Beyonce, “Best Thing I Never Had” or “Superwoman”, Karyn White

If you were on an island and could only bring three things, what would you bring? my husband (lol), laptop, TV

If you were a box of cereal, what would you be and why? Fruit loops - because I’m colorful and all over the place sometimes (variety)

You are a new addition to the crayon box, what color would you be and why? coral - because it’s a beautiful yet calming color

If there was a movie produced about your life, who would play you and why? Nia Long or Jada Pinkett - they’re classic actresses in my book; fearless; and spunky; you really believe who they are when they’re on-screen. Plus, they’re like the best of both worlds

What was the last gift you gave someone? a motivational journal and mug
What are you listening to right now in your car? Miguel’s latest album

Favorite restaurant & food
  • Food - oven pot roast (like my Granny used to make it)
  • Restaurant - That’s a hard one but some of my favs are Pappadeaux’s, Fox Bro’s, BQE lounge (I’m a simple gal)
How can people keep up with what you are up too? Share links/ Instagram/ Facebook IG/Twitter - @ShondaBWhite - FB - Life and Love Shonda Brown White

Do I get writer’s block?
  • All the time, but sometimes even worse I have too many writing ideas. You should see how many DRAFTS of pieces and writing material that I have. It’s ridiculous.
  • I overcome writer’s block by finding my quiet space/meditation, reading, or taking a much needed break from social media.
When I wrote this book, the audience I was looking forLadies who had experienced heartache and frustration due to lack luster relationships; who felt they were alone or that no one understood them and their experiences. I wanted to reach that audience and let them know that they weren’t alone and there is hope. I had a specific target audience of course (based on my MKTG experience) but ultimately, I wanted to reach single women and remind them to live their lives regardless of their relationship status.
